What is Next.js?
React gives you fine components, smith. Next.js gives you the whole forge around them.
Next.js is a React framework for building full-stack web apps. It's open source and maintained by Vercel.
React only renders components. Next.js adds everything a real site needs around that: routing, rendering on the server, data fetching and built-in optimizations.
- File-based routing: folders become URLs.
- Components render on the server by default, so less JavaScript reaches the browser.
- Built-in tools for images, fonts and SEO metadata.
- Deploy to Vercel, any Node.js server, a Docker container, or as static files.
