What is React?
Welcome to the Component Anvils, smith! Here we forge whole interfaces from small, reusable parts.
React is a JavaScript library for building user interfaces. It was created at Facebook and is maintained today by Meta and a large open-source community.
React focuses on one job: turning your data into UI, and keeping that UI up to date when the data changes. Routing, data fetching and styling come from other tools or frameworks.
- Component-based: build small pieces, combine them into pages.
- Declarative: describe what the UI should be, not every step to get there.
- Huge ecosystem: tools, libraries and frameworks like Next.js build on it.
