Starting a project today
Before you forge, you build the forge. One command sets up the whole workshop.
A real Vue app needs a build tool, a dev server, a folder layout and config. Generating all that is called scaffolding.
create-vue is the official way to start a Vue 3 project. It asks a few questions: TypeScript? Vue Router? Pinia? Vitest? ESLint?, and sets up a project powered by Vite.
Vite is a very fast build tool: the dev server starts in a blink and updates the page as soon as you save.
History: older projects were made with Vue CLI (vue create), based on webpack. Vue CLI is now in maintenance mode; new projects use create-vue and Vite.
